About policy@manchester

About policy@manchester

Policy@manchester is an initiative which has been created to showcase the contribution of academics from The University of Manchester to public policy development in the UK.

Universities act as important sources of knowledge, expertise and research for government and other policy makers. We have one of the biggest and best groups of academics engaged in such activities both in the UK and internationally, however, as we are such a large organisation this level of policy engagement can be overlooked.

The policy@Manchester initiative has been set up to provide a platform to share ideas, events and other activities highlighting our wide ranging areas of public policy engagement and create new synergies between those working on them.

We aim to address and support the University’s core goals by mobilising knowledge in research and teaching to influence and inform public policy and to create a focal point for public policy research and expertise at the University.

Professors Andrew Westwood and Diane Coyle are the co-directors of Policy@Manchester, support by Alex Waddington, Head of Communications and Engagement, and a small team.
