Description

Join us for a Battle of the Thinktanks debate on the state of the nation in 2020. Looking beyond the current era of austerity, this event will explore what government might look like in less turbulent times

Confirmed participating groups:

•    IPPR North
•    Resolution Foundation
•    Centre for Social Justice
•    Equality Trust

The event will explore whether there is a “Beyond Austerity”, or whether the constant downward pressure on resources, and in some areas increasing demand, is the new “normal” in public services.

Given that many cuts to budgets have still to come, and major reforms to education, health and welfare still on-going, what will public services look like by 2015?

What fiscal position will an incoming 2015 Government inherit? And what can, or should, the incoming government have as its main priority for 2015-2020?
