Where next for devolution in England?

We joined Centre for Cities on 7 May 2020 to discuss the next steps on devolution in England.

Thursday 7 May 2020 would have seen mayoral elections in city regions in London, the West Midlands, Greater Manchester, Liverpool and Tees Valley. The elections were postponed for a year due to the pandemic so we joined Centre for Cities to take stock of what devolution has achieved so far, where devolution should go next and what this means for local government, the Government’s levelling up agenda and the post-pandemic recovery.

This event included a presentation from Simon JeffreyPolicy Officer at Centre for Cities, followed by responses from Prof Tony Travers of the London School of Economics and Prof Francesca Gains of the University of Manchester, and a Q&A session chaired by Andrew Carter, Chief Executive of Centre for Cities.
